Josianne Cutajar

Former Member of the European Parliament, Legal and EU Policy Advisor

Josianne Cutajar is a legal and policy advisor who leverages extensive experience in EU policymaking, particularly in digital regulation, transport, and regional development. A former Member of the European Parliament, she served from 2019 to 2024 as the youngest-ever Maltese MEP elected.

During her mandate in the European Parliament, she sat on key committees, including Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), Transport and Tourism (TRAN), and Regional Development (REGI). She also served as Vice‑Chair of the European Parliament’s Delegation to Australia and New Zealand and of the SEArica Intergroup, focusing on SMEs, digitalisation, and the specific challenges faced by islands and coastal regions.

Josianne contributed to landmark EU digital legislation such as the Artificial Intelligence Act and the Digital Services Act, consistently advocating for a fair and inclusive digital transition that benefits citizens from disadvantaged regions and small businesses alike. A strong proponent of gender equality and social justice, she also played an active role in gender mainstreaming and social initiatives within the European Parliament.

Before her mandate as MEP, she served as an elected member of the Nadur Local Council from 2012 to 2019, building strong community roots and practical experience in local governance.

She currently sits on the Gozo Business Chamber Council and is an active member of Business and Professional Women, where she also serves on its United Nations Standing Committee.
