Brenda Lee Grech is a Maltese dancer, choreographer, educator, and artistic leader whose career spans over 20 years on some of Europe’s most dynamic stages and creative platforms. Having left Malta at just 16 to pursue her passion, she built an international career defined by versatility, excellence, and a commitment to artistic innovation before returning home with a renewed purpose: to lead, inspire, and shape the future of dance.
Trained dance in Malta under Johane Casabene, Brenda Lee later continued her studies at La Scuola del Ballo del Teatro alla Scala in Milan and later graduated with a B.A. (Hons) in Professional Dance and Performance from Ballet Central in London, validated by the University of Kent. Her performing career has seen her collaborate with world-renowned companies including Ballet d’Europe (France), Scottish Ballet, Rambert (London), and the immersive theatre company Punchdrunk, where she expanded her artistic voice into multidisciplinary performance and storytelling.
As a performer, she has brought to life works by some of the most influential choreographers of our time, including Frederick Ashton, Kenneth MacMillan, George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Hofesh Shechter, and Sharon Eyal. Her career highlights extend beyond the traditional stage, including performing in Sting’s Las Vegas residency, as well as screen appearances such as her role as the Swan in the Netflix series Peaky Blinders and choreography for Hallmark’s The Dancing Detective: A Deadly Tango.
Now based in Malta, Brenda Lee joined as Associate Artistic Director of ŻfinMalta (Malta’s National Dance company) and is now Associate Movement Director with the National Agency for Performing Arts, where she plays a pivotal role in shaping the country’s national dance landscape. She is also widely recognised as head judge on the national television talent series Brillanti Dance. For Brillanti, she collaborated with local female designers to shape her on-screen presence, reflecting her commitment to supporting and elevating women through creative partnership. Brenda Lee also continues to mentor, coach, and inspire the next generation of dancers.
Deeply committed to leadership and wellbeing in the arts, Brenda Lee is currently completing a Master’s degree in Leadership in Dance, focusing on the impact of leadership on dancers’ wellbeing. Through her work on stage, behind the scenes, and in the studio, she is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive, empowering, and sustainable future for artists, particularly women, ensuring they are not only represented, but elevated.
